LEA – Les Éclairagistes Associés design studio was born from the creativity of a man, Laurent FACHARD, for whom light transcends beauty.
In 1989, Laurent FACHARD, lighting engineer and lighting technician artist, founded the lighting engineering consultancy « LEA – Les Éclairagistes Associés » in Lyon.
Laurent FACHARD was born in Toulouse, he began his professional life in the cinema, the theater and the street arts. Then, he branched out his lighting skills into the field of architecture and town planning.
With LEA – Les Éclairagistes Associés, an independent lighting design studio, Laurent FACHARD wishes to accelerate the recognition of the new profession of lighting design. He researches and develops his activities as a project manager, linked to this specific field, for heritage, infrastructures and urban public spaces. The history then moves on to promote lighting design and its professions.
Laurent FACHARD took part in the creation of the Association des Concepteurs lumière et Eclairagistes (A.C.E), and became one of the founding and active members.
Laurent FACHARD counted among the founders of the « Festival Lyon Lumières », renamed « Fête des Lumières ». He was the artistic and technical director until 2003.
LEA – Les Éclairagistes Associés expended its lighting skills to cooperate with numerous creators, directors, choreographers, musicians, visual artists, architects, town planners and landscape designers.
Among the beautiful collaborations, LEA – Les Éclairagistes Associés designed with Jean-Michel OTHONIEL, the lighting of the fountain-sculptures of the Royal Garden of Versailles and the place of the European Promise in Bochum, Germany with Jochen GERZ.
By overcoming the constraints linked to the functionality of a place or an urban environment, LEA – Les Éclairagistes Associés has been able to implement unique construction methods and lighting concepts that are now a reference: Place des Terreaux and Gerland Park in Lyon, Left Bank quays of the Garonne in Bordeaux, lighting charter for the new TGV stations, the historic city center and the Arena of Nîmes, the Elysée Palace, the Palace of Versailles, etc.
Following the retirement of Laurent FACHARD, Christophe CANADELL takes over the management of the agency, assisted by Alexis LIPPENS. A new synergy for LEA – Les Éclairagistes Associés which gives rise to a new creative and luminous space.
