Architectural illumination of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Thorn in Châlons-en-Champagne

The lighting concept for this classified monument is to make the light flow through the building. The cladding being mainly limestone, the absence of lighting equipment in sight and the integration of fixtures to the building is privileged so that the light disappears in favor of the architecture. In this project, the objective is to illuminate as little as possible in order to eliminate light pollution. It is by playing with the shadows that the embossments of the building are revealed.
